Tens of thousands of cattle dead from historically catastrophic blizzard in South Dakota
Western South Dakota endured horrific losses of livestock due to an unusually early blizzard last week - tens of thousands of cattle are dead, stranded, and ill with disease. This is the largest financial disaster to hit the agricultural community in the state’s history. The entire nation will be dealing with these revenue and resource losses for years to come. Due to the government furlough the locals are overwhelmed with the loss of both their livelihoods and hope for federal assistance.
I come from a ranching family in the area. My father’s farmland near Faith and the surrounding community is devastated.
